My method of learning is to download your video, so that I can stop it @ anytime, slow it down, so I can look @ your fingers or really listen to how you play things. I always write notes, the times for each segment, page no. & your hints. I tick off what I know & have crazy marks for the bits for what I don't. This works for me, so I can go straight to what I need to practice. Some things confuse me, when I play what is written, eg 2 notes, but you're playing 4. Building on the Ukulele basics learned in ‘Booster Uke,’ we are now ready to learn to apply this knowledge laterally within the Blues genre!
Note : for Beginner players,
the pre-requisite to this course is the Ukulele Booster Course - see info above for new course
Drawing on classic early Blues, we will learn to work with C penta scale riffs, rolls, triads, basic solos & vamps within the Blues Form.
There will be a segment on developing Chord melody technique – the beautiful Art of playing rhythm & melody together.
Whilst getting familiar with the Blues form, we will slowly add a few more keys & chord shapes to our repertoire, easing our way into becoming comfortable with simple Blues form, melody and solo-ing tips & tricks.
Within a very supportive culture, we encourage vocal confidence and the ability to ‘own’ your vocal solo making the most of your unique voice.
- A Video of each session is included along with Mp3’s so that you can play along at home if you miss a session. This is available for you during and after the course finishes.
* You’ll receive a Quality printed workbook of exercises, tunes & backing tracks for your home study
- Week by Week comprehensive online support including backing tracks, specific Mp3 recordings of each new aspect we are learning along with Youtube clips of the originals.

This is an ongoing advanced group for those who have been studying Gypsy Jazz Ukulele for 6 months or more.
If you are an intermediate uke player but new to Gypsy Jazz, please get in touch before booking, so we can give you an overview of this group.
Private Zoom lessons are also available to bring you up to speed with the group from either Jen Hawley or myself.

We work from the ‘The Rockschool Ukulele Method’ book with its own downloadable audio. It’s a graduated method that covers all the important info alongside all the fun songs we’ll be learning!
THE DRAGONUKE ALBUM

Serving suggestion – Download onto a USB stick, take it to Officeworks -ask them to ring bind your book, cardboard backing, plastic front (colour). Use quality paper – so you can pencil your practice notes in there as well.

Belong to Country CD
‘Belong to Country’ was written and recorded in Alice Springs Oct 2019, with a final mix in march 2020 at Audrey Studios Melbourne just before Covid changed our world.
Comprising 9 original songs (plus Waltzing Matilda) written on the ukulele, arranged and produced by Anu Grace. Recorded with local Alice Springs musicians and Laurie Bycroft on uke bass, this is a simpler, less produced but jazzier sound than our other albums.
After touring Australia these past 8 months through fires, intense smoke, floods and viral outbursts, and seeing our country’s wildlife and forests decimated, this album is dedicated to a new understanding of this vast country we live in.
Can we ‘Belong to Country’ as our indigenous elders have done for so long with a sustainable culture, in alignment with the native beings and birds here?
